2.31 Sunbrella Fabrics
A Sunbrella fabric of a high quality with many
practical outdoor characteristics such as water resistance and resistance to UV
radiation is generally recognised as the best.
Advantages
– This fabric is strong, durable, bactericidal, weather and moisture resistant,
resistant to sea water, is rot and mould resistant, does not fade, is easy to
clean, breathable, i.e. does not become hot and stick. This material does not
peel or become hard during use.
Disadvantage
– Materials are higher in price. Over time these fabrics require a little
maintenance to maintain optimum performance.

Sunproof Olefin
Olefin
can be 100% Sunproof. This outdoor fabric is comfortable and breathable and can
be used to cover many cushions for outdoor furniture in combination with other

– Colourfast, resistant to UV, water repellent, very hardwearing, quick drying,
breathable, dirt resistant, comfortable and does not need ironing.
Disadvantages
– Sunproof Olefin is 238 grams m2 whereas Olefin is only 190 grams m2 in
weight. This fabric is too heavy for the washing line and requires a mild soap
for more intense stains.

Quick Dry Foam
Quick

resistant, water resistant and are resistant to other atmospheric agents. These
fabrics are mould resistant and suitable for very damp places such as outside,

Advantages
– Available in lots of colours, textures and patterns. Are soil, UV and mould
resistant.
Disadvantage
– These fabrics are higher in price.

Polyester and Polypropylene Fabrics
These
Polyester and Polypropylene fabrics are 100% environmentally friendly and
recyclable and come in a fantastic range of colours and patterns. Produced by a
nontoxic, nonallergenic energy saving manufacturing process.
Advantages
– An excellent range of colours and patterns are available. They are resistant
to mould and bacteria and are soil resistant. These also have some resistance
to sea salt and chlorine. Additionally, fabrics
are easy to clean and are UV resistant.
Disadvantages
– THESE FABRICS ARE NOT WATERPROOF!
These can be a bit higher in price and cannot be washed with detergents
containing oxides or bleaches. Cushions must be kept in a covered area when not
in use.

Luxury Acrylic Fabrics
Fabrics which are 100% Sunbrella solution dyed
acrylic. These fabrics are water repellent and stain proof. These fabrics do
not fade in the sun, with water, or in the presence of other toxins in the

Advantages
– These fabrics are water repellent, stain proof, do not fade in the sun, are
hardwearing, mould resistant, perfect even in moist areas like bathrooms and in
outdoor furniture. Some fabric covers can be removed and washed in the washing
machine and light soiling can be removed with water or a mild soap. Any loss of
